Nationally Recognized Holistic Therapeutic Art Specialist

Expert - Speaker - Trainer - Consultant

Sherita Sparrow is a Certified Activity Professional and Certified Dementia Practitioner. She is also the CEO and Founder of The Feathers Touch, LLC, a premier holistic therapeutic art company that uses art to enrich the lives of seniors living in nursing homes, assisted communities, and adult daycares. The Feather's Touch, LLC services also touch the hearts and lives of individuals with special needs or intellectual disabilities.

After obtaining two degrees in art, Ms. Sparrow established the company when she realized her passion and love for art could be used to mentally and physically stimulate individuals to explore their personal creativity. It was then that her career path shifted from becoming a Graphic Designer of a magazine firm to a Therapeutic Art Specialist ™ .

The Feather's Touch, LLC program benefits many communities, including individuals with Alzheimer's / Dementia, Parkinson's, Huntington’s disease, Stroke, Spinal Cord Injury, and more. The program has shown that therapeutic art restores and maintains clients' highest level of functionality, such as exercising cognitive skills, dexterity and concentration as well as allowing for social opportunities and memory enhancement.

Each therapeutic art session is carefully designed to encourage connection of the inner spirit. Clients describe the art sessions as a relaxing experience. A Life Enrichment Director once encouraged a  disinterested client by saying, “Don’t worry, you don’t have to be able to draw to do this. Just try and Sherita will put the icing on the cake with her finishing touches. And if you feel you still don’t have it, she’ll give you the whole cake!”

Not only does Sherita have a passion for uplifting seniors through art, she also believes in the power of personal and professional development of those who work closely with this sensitive community. Through her 12 years of experience working in long-term care, she began to notice a growing need and interests of healthcare professionals who craved to learn her easy art techniques. As a result, she developed the “Creative Art Summit” to teach wellness professionals, caregivers, social workers, CNA's and activity professionals how to unlock the formula for creating breakthrough moments with their clients.

Sherita Sparrow has been featured in a number of publications, including the Delaware News Journal, Delaware Today Magazine, Catonsville Times, About.com, Caring for the Ages Magazine, and Sussex Countian. In addition, Sherita has received numerous awards and recognition for volunteering in her community. One of her most memorable volunteer efforts using therapeutic art was in 2006 when she inspired women at the Delaware YWCA to regain their self-worth, empowerment and move towards independence.

Sherita’s favorite color and birthstone is purple, She enjoys watching her favorite shows with dips of delicious Haagen Dazs Coffee Ice Cream. In her spare time, Sherita creates art for herself to stay connected to her creative roots.
